1852 Silver Three Cents. NGC graded MS-64. Nicely toned and well struck. Second year of issue. The smallest of United States silver coins was authorized by Congress March 3, 1851. The first three-cent silver pieces had no lines bordering the six-pointed star. The planchets are .750 Fine. Pop 418; 261 finer.

1872 Shield Nickel. PCGS graded MS-64. Lightly toned. A much scarcer issue within the confines of the Shield nickel series. Bright lustrous coin and sharply struck with full radial lines in all the reverse stars. Interesting variety with portions of some letters missing in the reverse legend (notably top of "D" in UNITED, left down-bar of "A" in AMERICA, and bottom of "S" in CENTS. Rarer date in this series. Die specialists should inspect this! (PCGS # 3799) .

1884 Liberty Nickel. PCGS graded MS-64. Well struck and lightly toned. About as fully struck as these are normally found, with just terrific detail in the wreath (including both ears of corn) as well as the stars and Liberty's hair. A lovely, nickel-bright specimen that is just shy of Gem quality, there are no observable bagmarks on either side outside of a tiny one on the chin (PCGS # 3845) .

Easily affordable since many were saved as the first of their Type. Reasonable detail with perhaps minor weakness to the feather ends, although the bison shows excellent detail with only minor rounding on the shaggy hair of the hump (PCGS # 3915) .

1913 Buffalo Nickel. Type 1. PCGS graded MS-65. Nice gold toning. A fresh appearing gem. Lustrous golden gray with grand overall eye appeal. And a solidly graded Gem, this coin displays impressive striking definition for a buffalo nickel from this first Type design. This is not to say that the strike is full, but only two digits of the date could be stronger, along with the head of the buffalo. Everyplace else, the design stands in sharp relief (PCGS # 3915) .
